Software Defined Radio (SDR) equipment uses a range of technologies to establish a radio communication link for voice, data, or both. A SDR system uses software for the modulation, demodulation and possible encryption/decryption of radio signals. A SDR performs significant amounts of signal processing on compute platforms such as a MCU, Microcontroller or even a PC platform, or a reconfigurable piece of digital electronics such as an FPGA.
