IoT: LoRa Applications

LoRa (Long Range) is a proprietary low-power wide-area network based on spread spectrum modulation techniques. LoRa uses license-free sub-gigahertz radio frequency bands, and its low data modulation technique is ideal for IoT applications. LoRa is particularly suitable for the likes of larger buildings and shopping centres as it offers great signal penetration through walls.

While LoRa defines the lower physical layer of the network, LoRaWAN is one of several protocols developed to define the upper layers of a LoRa network. LoRaWAN is a cloud-based medium access control (MAC) layer protocol which acts mainly as a network layer protocol for managing communication between LPWAN gateways and end-node devices. LoRaWAN is deployed in a star-of-stars topology, its main purpose being to send small amounts of data at infrequent intervals from battery-operated devices to the internet. LoRaWAN is maintained by the LoRa Alliance.

Solsta is able to offer a wide and varied range of LoRa solutions to help you design and deliver your LoRa network. Starting at the end point, our range of finished sensors and modular based products is available to help you design or simply buy the sensor or “end-point” you need.  Connectivity via our range of LoRaWAN gateways, coupled with the highest performing antennas, range testers, power supplies, indoor and outdoor enclosures, ensure we have the best in class solutions for building a LoRa Network.  Our team of experts, hardware and software engineers is on hand to help and advise.

Our solutions do not stop there – we also offer custom software platforms for monitoring, control and analysis of the data from your network.
