TFT LCD Panels

We offer an extensive range of colour TFT LCD panels from 1.8″ through the popular 3.5″ and 5.7″ sizes to 82″. Our range includes sunlight readable panels from 5.6″ to 70″, bar cut panels, and SMART TFT displays with built-in control. We offer TFT displays with high brightness, high contrast ratio, wide viewing angle, wide temperature operation, longer lamp life, and lower power consumption.

TFT displays are used extensively in many industrial, commercial and scientific applications, including ATMs, POS terminals, kiosks, security systems, lottery and gambling gaming machines, medical equipment, factory automation, digital advertisement signage, transportation information, and marine equipment.

Our TFT modules are fully supported with a variety of options including wide operating temperatures, high brightness and contrast, built-in DC-DC and temperature compensation circuitry and most with white LED backlights. Resistive Touchscreens and Projected Capacitive Touchscreens are available for most models. Many panels can be configured as a kit – see our Interface Kits page for more details.

TFT technology is being used to replace Mono LCD in many applications, and Raystar Optronics now offers a 5.2″ TFT module designed specifically to fit the footprint of the industry standard RG24064-series 240×64 mono graphic STN LCD. The RFS520A can replace traditional STN displays of 8×2 or 16×2 format as it shares the same 16 pin footprint.

OLED Displays

OLED Display Panels are made from organic light emitting diodes – solid state devices composed of thin films of organic molecules that create light with the application of electricity. As OLEDs emit light, they have the advantage of not requiring backlighting, making them ideal for handheld instrumentation, automotive displays, portable media players, audio visual display systems and mobile phones.

OLED devices can be passive matrix (PMOLED) or active matrix (AMOLED). An AMOLED display consists of an active matrix of organic OLED pixels which have been deposited or integrated onto a TFT array. The TFT array acts as an array of switches, controlling the current flowing to each individual OLED pixel. Thus AMOLED relies on TFT backplane technology – essential in OLEDs above about 1.8” to keep the current stable and the display uniform. AMOLED does not tend to be viable for low volume applications.

PMOLEDs use a simpler control scheme in which each row in the display is controlled sequentially.

The advantages of using OLEDs include:

  • Better contrast, sharper images and more vibrant colours than all other technologies
  • Fast response time (microseconds rather than milliseconds) meaning no motion blue
  • Small size and light weight
  • Lower power consumption than equivalent LCD
  • High contrast (>1000:1) giving ultra-sharp images
  • Excellent colour definition
  • Improved performance at equivalent brightness
  • Wide viewing angle >170°
  • Wide operating temperature range -40°C to +70°C

Winmate 4K Military Monitors

Winmate 4K Ultra-High Definition Military Monitors

  • 4K sharp and detailed image, 10-bit colour with over 1.07 billion variations
  • Simultaneous PIP, PBP and POP
  • Light sensors for effective automatic display brightness and stabilises luminance
  • Optically bonded
  • 178°/178° wide viewing angle for maximum visual performance
  • IP66-certified
  • MIL-STD-810G environmental and MIL-STD-461F EMC standards
  • Capacitive touch keys

Winmate Communications, a global leader in advanced, rugged mobile technologies, offers ultra-high definition (UHD) military monitors that feature pristine image quality of up to 4K resolution at 1080p. The Winmate 4K military monitors show sharp and detailed images, allowing simultaneous viewing Picture-In-Picture (PIP), Picture-by-Picture (PBP) and Picture-Over-Picture (POP).

The 4K military displays offer 10-bit colour with over 1.07 billion variations, with a 14-bit look-up table (LUT) included that enables rendering of surgical images and offers 256 of the most appropriate tones. An ambient light sensor adjusts the display’s brightness automatically when moving from one lighting condition to another, or if the ambient light suddenly increases or decreases.

All Winmate military displays are optically bonded for maximum visual performance and allow users to see accurate images from all views from their 178°/178° wide viewing angle. 3D LUT technology is featured to correct non-linear colour rendering errors which are common in LCD displays. The backlight sensor stabilises brightness/luminance output and provides the user with a consistent image.

The Winmate 4K military monitors are IP66-certified, giving complete protection against contact from dust and powerful jets of water. Cleaning fluid build-up and corrosion are minimised with its sealed case and fanless design. Displays are enhanced with edge-to-edge protective glass and its true flat sides provide protection by reducing any gaps to stop dust or liquid gathering.

Users can access information quickly through the capacitive touch keys, and an optional rubber bumper provides solid edge protection from accidental head injuries and other equipment damage.

Winmate 4K military monitors are built to survive drops, shocks, liquid spills, vibrations, dust, salt and extreme temperatures – they are designed and tested for MIL-STD-810G environmental and MIL-STD-461F EMC standards.

Improving Display Visibility Outdoors with Optical Bonding

What is Optical Bonding?

Optical bonding is the process where the gap between the LCD panel and module is filled with a layer of optical-grade adhesives, bonding the two together. Whereas traditionally, there is an air gap in between the glass and the LCD panel which can cause glare and reflection from direct sunlight, and enable moisture to penetrate, causing condensation.

How Does Optical Bonding Improve Display Visibility?

The adhesive causes the transmission of light to be increased; this reduces refraction and results in a clearer display. Eliminating the two reflective surfaces significantly decreases the reflection of light. This will result in higher visibility across different lighting environments.

The improved display quality results in increased outdoor readability by up to 400%, high durability, prevents condensation and increased resistance to extreme temperatures.

Benefits

  • Increased outdoor visibility by up to 400%
  • Provides impact and vibration resistance
  • Increased durability and strength from the extra layer
  • Prevents condensation and internal dust build up
  • Increases resistance to extreme temperatures
  • Enables thinner displays by eliminating the air gap between the LCD and front surface

IEE Optical Bonding Process

IEE offers optical bonding for any size display; with their in-house bonding and lamination facility, the latest techniques are used to reduce costs, improve production lead-times and production rates, and give you consistently high-quality displays through direct control of the critical process steps. IEE utilises the DuPont™ Vertak® bonding process; a UV stable adhesive technology that allows direct LCD bonding from a 1.5″ to 30″ active display area.

Step 1: Dispense and Cure the Dam

Step 2: Dispensing of Adhesives and Plasma Fill

Step 3: Placing Substrate and Spot Curing

Step 4: UV Oven Curing

We can offer you custom-sized displays tailored to your requirements that are ideal for Military and Transportation. Speak to one of our experts to find out more.
